Challenge
Byens Scene transforms three key public spaces around Ørestad's DR Koncerthuset, Bella Arena, and Royal Arena into active, inclusive, and recognisable urban destinations — building on the competition-winning design 'The Impact' by Bjarke Ingels Group and Doug Aitken Workshop.
Approach
VOLCANO supports By & Havn and the design team by embedding placemaking, engagement, and activation early in the process, connecting data, people, partners, and programming so the spaces are socially anchored and operationally viable, not just well designed.
The work follows VOLCANO's five-step placemaking process — data & strategy, outreach, partnerships, activities & events, and PR & communication — culminating in a year-round programme developed with local institutions and individuals.
